Program:

1pm: Welcome & Stephan Tang’s Talk “Life in the Margins”
2pm: Panel Discussion
3pm: Social Refreshments, Conversation, and Resource Distribution

A “fishbowl” panel discussion will be comprised of student and faculty members, as well as London community members, will provide an opportunity for community members to discuss the current situation, their experiences, and potential next steps for allyship and visibility for international LGBTQIA+ students at Western. Social Refreshments will conclude the event. We encourage members of the LGBTQIA+ International community, their allies, their friends, and the greater Western community to get involved and continue the important dialogue at this time. Resource tables will also be present for questions or materials that you may need.

The larger goal of the campaign for International LGBTQIA+ visibility is to increase awareness and support(s) on campus for individuals and groups who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community but have confronted barriers of inclusion and acceptance at Western. Barriers can take many forms, for example, broadly social, cultural, internal, external, and more specifically at Western through access to resources, intercultural social opportunities, and feeling safe and welcomed. As a community, we are coming together to engage in dialogue to address and strategize solutions for some of these barriers. Visit www.iesc.uwo.ca/current/international_allyship_initiative.html to view the poster campaign and supporters from across campus.

All are welcomed to attend and participated in this event! Hope to see you there!
