After careful review of the program and its alignment with Western’s strategic goals and priorities, Western International has made the difficult decision to retire the Western Heads East program. This website will be available until the end of the 2024/25 academic year but is no longer being updated.
In recent years, the Western Heads East program has shifted and evolved in an effort to respond to changing needs identified by partners and the interests of student interns. In addition to facing growing challenges related to supporting a wide range of intern activities outside of the original yogurt kitchen organizations, we have also seen growing concerns related to resources and funding.
We have been in discussion with our program partners and campus colleagues to explore opportunities to facilitate continued collaborations, research and internships in a way that better reflects current needs and requires fewer staff and financial resources.
We are grateful to our partners, program participants and all those who supported Western Heads East. We are very proud of the impact this program has had over its more than 20-year history and celebrate its many successes and achievements.
