Applications Open for Fundraising & Education Committee Co-Chairs

The Western Heads East (WHE) Fundraising & Education Committee is a student team who is responsible for WHE fundraising and educational/awareness campaigns throughout the year. We are seeking two motivated and passionate students to Co-Chair the 2019-2020 committee! Apply by Friday, February 22, 2019 by submitting this brief application form.

Eligibility

Candidate must be a current student at Western University and willing to commit for the entire academic year. The 2019-2020 Co-Chair incumbents begin planning with current Co-Chairs in March, and set up the new team over summer 2019.

Role Description

Fundraising & Education Committee Co-Chairs: (2 positions)

  • Average 6-8 hour commitment per week. Some weeks will be less and some will be more than this range depending on time of year
  • Manage a committee composed of student leaders in the following roles:
    • Events Coordinators
    • Membership Coordinators
    • Social Media Coordinators
    • External Coordinator
    • Finance Coordinator
  • Recruitment and training of newly on-boarded student coordinators*
    • Responsible for interviewing and selecting team of coordinators, in collaboration with WHE staff
    • Update roles and responsibilities for each coordinator
    • Ensure all coordinators are clear on their roles; provide additional training as needed
    • Ensure all coordinators complete required training
  • Responsible for leading weekly meetings and coordinating the committee
    • Organize team building activities
    • Provide refreshments for each meeting (cost covered by WHE)
    • Write agenda for each meeting
    • Weekly check-in with every coordinator on the team
    • Individual mid-year reviews with each coordinator
    • Provide support as needed to each coordinator
    • Oversee fundraising and education events planned and executed by coordinators to ensure smooth processing
    • Organize mid-year and end-of-year appreciation events for WHE volunteers
  • Weekly meetings with committee supervisor
    • Update WHE staff on committee plans, challenges, and successes
  • Oversee monthly general volunteer meetings
  • Membership Coordinators lead meetings. Co-Chairs role is to attend, support as needed, and provide feedback
  • Acting liaison for the student committee with other campus groups and community organizations, for example:
    • African Students Association
    • Youth Opportunities Unlimited
    • Purple Yogis
    • Ronald McDonald House
  • Complete Western required online training to volunteer with Western International*

*Items with an asterisk indicate tasks to be completed during the summer
