Impact of my global learning experience

Studying abroad in Amsterdam was one of the best experiences of my life. I met people from all over the world, immersed myself in a new culture, and traveled throughout Europe. Living in a different country pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me become more independent. More than anything, it showed me how easy it is to connect with people, no matter where they're from. I came home with lifelong friendships and a whole new perspective on the world.

Why I chose Western

I chose Western because I wanted a university that offered more than just great academics. I was drawn to the strong sense of community, the opportunities to get involved, and the chance to grow both inside and outside the classroom.

Other highlights from my Western experience

One of the biggest highlights of my time at Western has been getting involved on campus. As Co-President of motionball Western, I've had the opportunity to work with an incredible team to support Special Olympics Canada. Every March, we host our flagship event, Marathon of Sport, where hundreds of students come together to play inclusive sports alongside Special Olympics athletes while raising funds and awareness. It's an amazing day that celebrates inclusion, friendship, and community, and it's been one of the most rewarding parts of my university experience.

A fun fact about me

I'm a big music fan and love going to concerts. So far this year, I've been to eight concerts, including four while studying in Amsterdam.

My advice for students considering going abroad

Don't let being nervous stop you from going. Some of my best memories came from saying yes to experiences that felt a little outside my comfort zone. Be open to meeting new people, exploring new places, and embracing the unexpected.

I'm looking forward to sharing my experience and helping future students make the most of their own global learning journey.
