Why I chose Western

I chose Western because of its strong academic reputation, beautiful campus, and welcoming community. I was particularly drawn to the opportunity to combine academic learning with practical and professional experiences. As an international student, I also valued Western’s diverse community and the many opportunities to get involved beyond the classroom.

My favourite place on campus

The D.B. Weldon Library. I enjoy the atmosphere and the balance between quiet spaces where I can focus on my academic work and more social areas where I can meet friends or take a break. It has become one of the places where I feel most connected to campus life.

My favourite place in London

Victoria Park. I love how it brings the community together throughout the year, from festivals and events during the warmer months to the beautiful lights and skating rink in winter. It is one of the places that makes downtown London feel vibrant and welcoming.

Highlights from my Western experience

Some of the highlights of my Western experience have been completing my Master of Public Administration, representing Western in community and academic initiatives, presenting at the CURL Conference at Huron University, and participating in the Mayor’s Challenge and ImpactLondon. I have also really valued the opportunity to support other students through peer advising and to become involved in initiatives that connect international students with the broader Western community.

A fun fact about me

I love exploring new places, discovering hidden cafés, and turning an ordinary afternoon into a little adventure.

My advice for new students or students considering going abroad

Say yes to new things: Do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone in your first year. Join a club that looks interesting, even if you go alone. Utilize Campus Resources: Western has incredible writing centres, learning peers, and mental health resources. Use them early.

For Exchange/Education Abroad: Go for it! It changes your perspective on the world. Plan your courses early with an academic advisor so you stay on track to graduate.
