Impact of my global learning experience

I completed an exchange semester at the University of Lausanne, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! I met so many amazing people, expanded my knowledge about different cultures, and grew so much as a student. I am very grateful for the opportunity, and I recommend it to anyone who is able to apply as well.

Why I chose Western

I chose to come to Western because of its excellent music program and its lively, welcoming on-campus environment.

Other highlights from my Western experience

I've had a lot of fun meeting new people and creating connections through many of the clubs and student leadership opportunities I've participated in during my time here! I love how easy it is to get involved at Western.

A fun fact about me

I am left-handed.

My advice for students considering going abroad

Seriously consider your ability to financially fund your studies abroad, especially depending on the country. I would also check with your academic advisor that you can still fulfill your required courses/credits while abroad, or at least make up for them when you get back. You don't want to worry about not graduating on time because you missed an important course!

For those of you considering going abroad, enter with an open mind and no expectations. Be open to learning new things and meeting new people! I found my experience to be a lot better when I let myself have fun, didn't pressure myself to have the "perfect" exchange semester, and didn't take myself too seriously.
