Impact of my global learning experience

I had an absolute blast during my time at Waseda University in Japan. It was an amazing experience to live and study in such an intriguing culture as Japan, and Waseda was nothing but supportive in helping exchange students like me blend in and have a great time. I had the best time with friends at the three-day Waseda Festival, featuring food trucks, performances, and even special theme menus at restaurants around campus! The decision to challenge myself and pursue an exchange was one of the best I’ve made. I cherished every moment of this experience, and I know the self-growth and friendships it has given me will stay with me for a lifetime.

Why I chose Western

I was attracted to Western's diverse and involving culture, as well as the beautiful campus. Of course, our amazing faculty and staff have offered the best study experience for me, but the loving people--staff and peer students--are what make Western feel like home.

Other highlights from my Western experience

I joined the Retro Culture Club at Waseda, and I loved everything about it. I had a great time preparing our club’s activities for the Waseda Festival—a talk show with an old-time movie star. Besides the fact that I got to meet the 80s icon in person, working with my clubmates to make it happen is one of the most memorable moments of my exchange.

A fun fact about me

I can speak three languages fluently!

My advice for students considering going abroad

I know this could be stressful, and I feel your worries. I was never the adventurous type, but looking back from where I am now, I can’t believe how far I have come. If you can't decide whether this is for you, I want you to know that there are wonderful teams at Western International, and they are all willing to support and guide you through any challenges you may face. So come to one of the presentations, show up to the walk-in hours and talk with them, and decide what is best for you.
