Impact of my global learning experience
Studying abroad at the University of Leeds was an incredibly rewarding experience that allowed me to immerse myself in a new culture and academic environment. Living in another country pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me become more independent, adaptable, and confident. I also had the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and travel throughout Europe, which broadened my perspective and appreciation for different cultures. Overall, the experience contributed greatly to both my personal and academic growth.
Why I chose Western
I chose Western because of its strong academic reputation, welcoming campus community, and the opportunities it offers both inside and outside of the classroom. I was especially drawn to the sense of community and school spirit at Western, and I felt it would be a place where I could grow academically while also becoming involved and building meaningful connections.
Other highlights from my Western experience
Some of the highlights of my Western experience have been getting involved in the campus community through Kappa Alpha Theta, Jack.org, and Women in STEM. Through these experiences, I have taken on leadership and outreach roles, met some of my closest friends, and become more connected to the Western community. These opportunities have made my time at Western incredibly memorable and have helped me grow both personally and academically.
A fun fact about me
I have been to 20 countries.
My advice for new students or students considering going abroad
My biggest advice would be to take advantage of every opportunity and not be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. Whether you are starting at Western or considering going abroad, put yourself out there, meet new people, and try new things. Some of the best experiences come from saying yes to opportunities you may not have originally considered.
