"Although I originally wanted to participate in an in-person experience and had my heart set on going to Costa Rica, I also had accepted a position in a lab and wasn't able to travel. I chose to do a virtual internship and work remotely with a clinic there and that was a great fit for me. The skills I was able to build, including intercultural communication and time management were invaluable."
