Involvement with Western International:
- Last year, I volunteered with Western International during International Week, and I was pleasantly surprised by the number of wonderful people I met and the amount of fun I had.
- This year, I am volunteering as a peer guide in the Peer Guide Program at Western International.
Program:
Third-year Medical Sciences student (Microbiology and Immunology)
Description of my research:
I had the opportunity to participate in a research project with the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department at the Dasman Diabetes Institute in Kuwait. Our study investigated how obesity affects the levels of a protein called ISM1 in a cohort study.
Fun fact about me:
During my gap year after high school, I started practicing pottery. Now, whenever I return home, I teach pottery at one of the renowned studios in Kuwait.
Highlight of my Western experience:
The highlight of my experience at Western has definitely been the clubs and community. Since my first year, I have been a member of the Western Climbing Club and have also joined the Taekwondo and Badminton clubs, which have been a lot of fun.
Why I chose Western:
I chose Western for its Medical Science program and its location in London, as I appreciate quiet and green spaces.
My advice for new students:
My advice for new students is to never hesitate to ask questions, whether it's about anything, anywhere, or at any time!
