Peer Guide Network

Build community. Get support. Feel at home.

The Peer Guide Network is a community designed to help you feel supported, confident and connected. It is hosted in the Chu Centre and Western International's Global Lounge. Watch for September's schedule coming soon!

Who can join

The Peer Guide Network has expanded to welcome all Western students from around the world and across Canada. From undergraduate and graduate students to post-doctoral scholars, everyone is welcome. However you’re experiencing Western, you’re welcome here.

What to expect

  • Drop by our student space! Peer Guides are around during open hours if you have questions, need guidance, or just want to chat. Prefer to keep things low-key? That works too. Study, read or take a break in a relaxed, welcoming space.
  • Free coffee and snacks! Enjoy a hot beverage or a tasty treat from our international snack bar.
  • Join the Peer Guide Network mailing list to get information directly from our Peer Guides, including personal invites to events on campus and around the city.

Volunteer with us!

For more than 30 years, the Peer Guide Program has helped students build friendships, find community and make the most of their Western experience.

Selected volunteers will be part of a leadership team dedicated to supporting students by sharing useful resources, providing advice, and hosting unique in-person opportunities for students to connect, learn, and grow.

Why volunteer?

  • Share your experience! As an upper-year student you have wisdom and advice to share with other globally minded students.
  • Strengthen your skills! Grow as a leader while developing highly valued skills like intercultural communication, empathy, and mentoring.
  • Expand your social circle! Meet fellow international and Canadian students, build friendships, and become part of a welcoming campus community.
  • Build your resume! Get access to unique professional development opportunities and work towards the Global & Intercultural Engagement Honour.
