Why I chose Western

Growing up in London, Ontario, I was always aware of Western's strong reputation in health sciences and its vibrant student community. Choosing Western felt like a natural decision for me, given its commitment to research and innovation in health care, which aligns perfectly with my academic and career goals. The beautiful campus and familiar environment made Western an even more appealing choice.

Highlights from my Western Experience

One of the most exciting aspects of my time at Western has been participating in the annual Homecoming festivities, which truly capture the spirit and camaraderie of the university community. Also, volunteering with Western International during International Student Orientations has allowed me to help new students acclimate and make meaningful connections with people from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, taking part in Western’s various cultural club activities has provided a platform to celebrate different cultures, learn new perspectives, and build lasting friendships.

An accomplishment I’m proud of

An accomplishment I’m particularly proud of is my work as a student researcher at the Irish Red Cross. I actively contributed to the "Prison to Community" project, which is part of the Community-Based Health in Justice Program. This collaborative initiative with the Irish prison and probation service involved utilizing a "realist approach" to evaluation research. My responsibilities included conducting interviews, interacting with Red Cross volunteers, and collaborating with community probation offenders. These experiences collectively enhanced my understanding of socio-educational interventions and allowed me to contribute meaningfully to impactful projects.

A fun fact about me

A fun fact about me is that I recently won the Best Acting Award at the Forest City Film Festival for my very first film.

My plans for after graduation

I will be returning to Western this fall to pursue a master's degree in Applied Health Science within the Advanced Health Care Practice program while applying to dental schools. I'm passionate about using my education to make a difference in people's lives, particularly in underserved communities. By combining advanced health care practices with dentistry, I hope to provide holistic and accessible care to those who need it most.

My plans for the future

In the future, I envision myself playing a pivotal role in transforming health care delivery and policy on a larger scale. My dream is to spearhead initiatives that enhance health care access and quality in underserved regions and communities. By leveraging my skills and experiences, I hope to be at the forefront of creating a more equitable and healthier world for all.
