Former WHE Intern Katherine Yu was chosen to attend the 5 Year Anniversary celebration of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship. The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship is an award to support and empower young global leaders. The night was a great success and a number of scholarship recipients and notable public individuals met together to celebrate this milestone and discuss past achievements and future aspirations. Toby Le, 4th year Medical Sciences student discusses the research he is doing in Dr. Sharareh Hekmat's lab at Brescia University College on pulses; a type of nutritious legume with dry edible seeds. Pulses have been declared by the United Nations as one of the most important crops in the world. This research looks at assessing the effectiveness of different pulses as vehicles for GR-1 probiotics.
