Western to resume international travel for students
On October 21, 2021, the Government of Canada lifted its global travel advisory that was previously in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Given this change, Western is pleased to resume international university-sanctioned student travel effective immediately.
Students who were scheduled to participate in an international experience for the Winter 2022 term will receive an email notifying them of this change. Our team is reaching out to our partner universities to make them aware of this update, and we will work collaboratively to restore exchange opportunities that were impacted by our previous decision to suspend travel for the Winter 2022 term.
Students will no longer be required to complete the Special Authorization to Travel form to proceed with their international experience, except in cases where the travel destination is under an official travel advisory issued by Global Affairs Canada.
Please be advised COVID-19 related restrictions continue to impact international travel and operations for our institutional partners worldwide. We encourage students to review the following resources when considering international travel:
- Global Affairs Canada Travel Advice & Advisories
- International SOS (Western's safety abroad partner)
- CDC Global COVID-19 Tracker
Students may contact their International Learning Coordinator by email to goabroad@uwo.ca with any questions.
