Mitacs Globalink Research Award

The Mitacs Globalink Research Award (GRA) program provides opportunities for Canadian senior undergraduate and graduate students (Master’s or PhD), and postdoctoral fellows to gain international research experience with universities located in Mitacs partner and eligible countries, and for international senior undergraduate and graduate students (Master’s or PhD) and postdoctoral fellows to gain research experience with eligible Canadian universities.

Western International administers applications for these awards on behalf of Western University.  Applications are processed and approved by Mitacs to fulfill the yearly allocation quota.

Eligible Partners and Locations

Application Process

  • Interested applicants submit application to Mitacs.
  • Outcome Communicated to student and Western supervisor.
  • Final award approval announced by Mitacs.
  • Successful Globalink Research Award recipients will receive further information regarding next steps and travel planning from Western International.

Notice Regarding Research Start and End Dates

It is important to that expected research start and end dates are fully discussed and agreed to by students, the Western supervisor and the foreign institution supervisor. This information is used to confirm eligibility for the respective award application and to prepare logistical resources including student registration, health insurance, immigration documentation and reporting requirements.
