Winter 2022 international student travel suspended

After careful consideration, Western University has extended the suspension of all outbound international university-sanctioned student travel to April 30, 2022, due to the continued uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic.

University-sanctioned international travel refers to any activities involving travel outside of Canada that have been approved, authorized, and/or supported by a Western University unit, department, staff, and/or faculty member. This decision was made in line with the Government of Canada’s continued Global Travel Advisory and Safety Abroad considerations.

Students who planned on travelling abroad during the Winter 2022 term are encouraged to work with their program coordinators, supervisors, academic units, and Western International to explore alternative options such as postponing travel to a later date or undertaking the activity remotely without travelling internationally.

If there are exceptional circumstances for travel plans in the Winter 2022 term, which are considered to be academically essential and supported by the Faculty Dean, please contact to discuss the respective case.

We will continue to monitor the situation regularly and provide updated communication should circumstances change.
