Clinical, Field Placements & Practicums
Some academic units offer students the opportunity to enhance their educational experience abroad through clinical, field placements, or practicums. A work, clinical, field, or practicum placement abroad, usually involves working in a pseudo-professional capacity, where the primary motivation is educational. These experiences may be for-credit or non-credit and paid or unpaid.
Check with your academic unit to determine if this type of experience is embedded or offered as an option within your academic program.
If you have been approved to participate in an international clinical, field placement or practicum, ensure that you complete the University Sanctioned International Experiences form in Atlas, Western's International Learning portal, to begin the Travel Registry process, which is a requirement of Western's Safety Abroad Policy.
